About Sunny Day Kids
Dr Jonathan Allan is the founder of Sunny Day Kids, a small practice
in the suburb of Figtree. Jon is a Clinical Psychologist with over
12 years of experience supporting children, young people, and
families. Born in New Zealand and a proud Wollongong local
since the age of ten, Jon brings a genuine connection to the
community.
Jon completed a PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of
Wollongong on an Australian Postgraduate Award Scholarship.
He has built a broad and varied career across multiple clinical
and management roles within health settings. Five years ago, he
founded Sunny Day Kids Clinic, where he now focuses exclusively on delivering high-quality, personalised psychological therapy and assessments to children and their families.
Jon's approach to therapy is warm, practical, and grounded in evidence. He believes that the best outcomes happen when children are genuinely engaged — so rather than limiting sessions to the traditional talking format, Jon draws on a mix of strategies including therapeutic games, activities in nature, sport and technology all woven together with evidence-based frameworks. Parents are an integral part of the process, with Jon working collaboratively with families to build skills and strategies that carry beyond the therapy room.
At the heart of Jon's practice is a deep commitment to authenticity. He applies the same principles and strategies he uses when working therapeutically with children and families to his own life as a father of two girls, and he brings that lived experience and genuine investment to every family he works with.If you're looking for a psychologist who will meet your child where they are, work alongside your family with honesty and warmth, and bring real-world perspective to the work, Jon would love to hear from you.
